PieceMakers make gift for cancer patient
Members of the PieceMakers quilting class presented four year-old Kyra Olson, a cancer patient, with a comfort quilt Tuesday.
Kyra was diagnosed with Rhabomyosarcoma cancer a year and a half ago. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments in Fort Worth.
She is the daughter of Jeremy and Alicia Olson of Electra and the granddaughter of Kay Thompson, and Nancy and Johnny Case. She also has a big sister Loryn Hooper.
Members of the quilting class, taught by Judy Muirhead each week at the RAC, began making comfort quilts in 2006 to be given to cancer patients.
They presented their first comfort quilt to Carolyn Mengwasser, a breast cancer survivor and member of the quilting class.
Members who worked on and donated four inch strips of cotton fabric for Kyra’s quilt include: Judy Muirhead, Cathy Uhren, Annette Minderman, Cindy Simmons, Della Wright, Lydia Piecemaker, Pat Ikey, Sherry Little, Denise Boyd, and Carolyn Mengwasser.
The group accepts donations of fabric, batting and sheets.
To make a donation contact Judy Muirhead at 592-9745.
