Battle of Brothers –
East Texas game is reunion for IPHS grads
East Texas football recently brought together two brothers – both coaches, and both former Iowa Park High School graduates.
Robert Denton, a 1992 IPHS graduate and coach at Liberty-Eylau High School in Texarkana, welcomed his brother, Tim, a 1994 IPHS graduate and coach at New Boston High School.
New Boston stopped two late scoring threats by Liberty-Eylau and held on for a 27-19 win.
Their mother, Connie Sisk, attended the game. An IPHS grad herself, Connie Morrison Denton Sisk graduated from Midwestern State University in 1992, moving to Altus in 1994. She is currently the Lead Mammographer at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Their father is Al Denton, and grandparents are the late Chester Morrison (born and lived in Iowa Park, passed away in 1986), and Dema Morrison of Iowa Park, now residing in Altus.
After graduating from IPHS, Robert graduated from the University of Houston in 2002, and began his football coaching career in 2005 at Chilton High School with former IPHS Coach Lucky Gamble. He also coached at Timpson High School before moving to Texarkana.
Tim graduated from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches in 2003. He started coaching with former IPHS Coach Rick Barker at Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana, and moved to New Boston with him in 2005. Tim has one son, Drew, who is a student at New Boston and plays on the JV football team.
