History made with Chamber selections
By: Sherrie Williams
History was made during the annual Iowa Park Chamber of Commerce awards banquet held Saturday at Camp Chaparral, when a father and daughter were both award recipients and the Citizen of the Year went to the youngest person ever.
Iowa Park High School Coach David Fuhrman was named Educator of the Year and his daughter, Amanda was named Student of the Year; Molly Dutton, an IPHS senior, was named Citizen of the Year; Peggy Robertson was Senior Citizen of the Year; and Ken’s Pizza Steve and Cindy Smith were named Business of the Year.
Tumbleweed Smith entertained the crowd of over 200 attendees with stories of people he has met as he traveled Texas. One being an interview of a Littlefield lady who earned the title National Hog Caller.
Several of those attending won door prizes made possible by local businesses, and the grand prize, an ipad donated by Cryovac, was won by Carmon Lozipone.
At the conclusion of the banquet Mike Price handed the reins of COC president to Ruth James.
