First candidates file in city, school elections

Monday was the first day to file in the city council and school board elections on May 9. Three places are due to expire on both the city council and school board.

In the Iowa Park CISD School Board election, terms due to expire this year include Jeff Nolen, Place 1; Kari Collins, Place 2; and Guy Traylor, Place 3. All three incumbents have filed for re-election, and at press time had attracted no challengers.

The terms of Dan Fears, Place 1, Ray Schultz,Place 3, and Sherrie Williams, Place 5 on the City Council will expire in May. Fears and Williams have both filed to retain their seats, and Schultz is undecided.

Filing in the city council election can be done at city hall, Monday through Friday,from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Those who wish to file in the school board election can do so at the City/School Tax Office in the school administration building between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.,Monday through Friday.
