Council calls election
(03/01/13)
by Dolores Hamilton
Monday night the city council ordered a general election to fill three places on the council with terms that expire this year.
The election will be held May 11 for Place 1, Place 3 and Place 5. Francis Leath was appointed election judge and Jerrye Pearce alternate election judge.
Colt West and Brian Havins with Crane-West Marketing were at the meeting to discuss revisions they had made to the city's prospective logo.
Several of the council members were still not satisfied and West told them they would continue to work on the logo and bring it back to a future council meeting.
Jim Stevens was appointed with a split vote to fill the vacant on the Board of the Iowa Park 4A Economic Development Corporation. The vote was 4-1 with Mark Raby voting against the appointment.
Stevens will fill the spot left vacant with the resignation of Guy Traylor. Council members thought Stevens would be a good fit for the EDC board because of his background in construction.
The council also voted to re-appoint Wichita Falls Mayor Glenn Barham to serve as one of the "municipal appointees" to the Wichita-Wilbarger 9-1-1 District Board of Managers.
No action was taken following a closed session to discuss the sale of the city-owned building at 500 West Highway.
