This week ... Hawk Stadium and field house
by Dolores Hamilton
Hawk Stadium, built 42 years ago primarily with donated labor and money, has been a great source of pride for Iowa Park and the surrounding community. But time and the elements have taken their toll, and the facility is in need of serious repairs.
For the next two weeks the Leader will be focusing on proposals for the athletic complex, beginning with construction of the stadium and field house. In next week’s issue we will focus on other elements of the athletic complex proposal, including baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and visitor parking.
HAWK STADIUM, FIELD HOUSE
New construction includes the press box, concession stand and equipment, restrooms, visitor’s ticket canopy, north entrance ticket booth and canopy, new field house and canopies.
Also proposed is new stadium seating, aisle railings, steps, north entrance stairs and railing, ramps and railing, football field turf, drainage system, 8-lane track, field retaining walls with and without ramp, field lighting, sound system, scoreboard, concrete walks and decks, and work on the parking and drive areas.
Anyone with questions about the bond proposals can call the Leader at 592-4431 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or supt.@ipcisd.net The questions will be answered by Superintendent Jerry Baird or a member of the school board and published in the next edition of the Leader.
