Great Days of Service kicks off Wednesday
(04/13/17)

By Sherrie Williams
The 11th Annual Great Days of Service will kickoff Wednesday and the ministerial alliance churches in our community are gearing up for the event.
According to Lakeview Pastor Daniel Robertson, names/adresses are still being excepted for Operation Eden and Home Improvement.
“If we have the time and manpower and receive a request for help with yard work, we will try our best to get to it,” said Robertson.
If you have home improvement or landscaping needs and you own your property, call Terry Koch at 940-781-3887 for more information.
In addition to Operation Eden and Home Improvement other areas of focus include nursing home visitations, a commodity drive, public servants meal, sewing group, and operation clean street (clearing out trash on our local roads).
The youth groups will go door to door picking up canned good donations throughout the community on Wednesday evening.
If you wish to donate canned food items organizers ask that you have the items ready that you would like to contribute.
Also, volunteers will offer a public servants meal for school workers, police officers, firefighters, EMTs and other city workers at noon on Thursday, at the First Baptist Family Center.
Meals can be picked up or eaten there. Call First Baptist at 940-592-2157, a few days in advance, if you have a large group that will be coming.
“We hope that all public servants will plan on attending,” said organizers.
