Four charged in killing of local man
Norman, Oklahoma police on Wednesday arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Nathan Ewing, a 2015 graduate of Iowa Park High School.
Two 17-year-old males, 20-year-old Tyrek Ladarius Turner, and 19-year-old Armani Ashanti Morgan were booked into Cleveland County Detention Center Wednesday on a complaint of first degree murder, according to Public Safety Information Officer Sarah Jensen.
Ewing was shot and killed in an apparent robbery in Norman, Oklahoma just before 11 p.m. Sunday.
According to a press release from Norman Police Department, at approximately 10:55 p.m. Sunday police responded to the report of a shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1800 block of East Lindsey Street.
When officers arrived they located an adult male (Ewing) with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Ewing was transported to an area hospital where he died Monday morning from his injuries.
Preliminary information indicates Ewing and another individual were contacted by two black males in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Witnesses indicated the two men attempted to rob Ewing and the other individual. During the incident, two shots were fired. Ewing was shot once. The other individual ran from the scene, and was not injured.
The two suspects then drove away from the scene in a light-colored sports utility vehicle.
Ewing did not live at that location and as of Monday it was under investigation as to why he was at the apartment complex.
Jensen confirmed they believe a robbery ensued when Ewing was shot. The investigation continues.
Nathan, a student at the University of Oklahoma, is the son of Dub and Kelly Helwig Ewing of Iowa Park.
He would have celebrated his 20th birthday Monday.
