Big weekend here with ParkFest, cruise night

Iowa Park Chamber of Commerce’s annual ParkFest will kickoff at 9 a.m. Saturday at Gordon Lake with a car show and vendors.
The event will wrap-up at 2 p.m.
Vendor setup will be from 7 to 8:30 a.m.
Vendors include: First United Methodist Church - bean bag throw; Happy Hoppers Inflatables; Chamber of Commerce train; Jim Lovely, Grung Dog Tags; Cleatius Copeland, wood crafts; Frosty Paradise, snow cones, First Assembly of God, funnel cakes; and Chisum Travel Center, bottled water and pizza.
Presenting sponsor of the event this year is Iowa Park Community Development Corporation.
Other sponsors include: McDonalds, Spruiell Drilling, Iowa Park Clinic and Pharmacy, S5! Manufacturing Inc., Atmos Gas, Pilgrim Bank, Dana Ross Insurance, Jeff Rhodes Insurance, Iowa Park Health Care, Gene James Air Conditioning, and ButterStick Bakery.

Car Show
A car show will be held in conjunction with ParkFest starting at 8 a.m.
The car show will be organized by Michael Rodiguez of Flatline Car Club.
There will be 15 classes including: 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 2000, 4X4, Mopar, Jeep, SI, Import, Rat Rod, Lowrider, Trikes, and Bikes.
Entry fee is $15 and trophies will be given for first and second places.

Following the Parkfest activities the fourth annual Tailgates and Tailights Cruise will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Pre-registration is recommended for the cruise.
Those who wish to not wait in line Saturday may pre-register with Karla at City Hall until 5 p.m. Friday.
Cost is $10 per car and includes a dash plaque and the cruise window display, which you will receive when you register.
Cruise registration will also be held at the Optimist Club Gym at 806 North Third from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

O’Reilly Auto Parts will sponsor and judge the annual burn out event in the 800 block of North Fourth Street from 6 to 8 p.m.
Line up will be at Texas and Third Streets.
O’Reilly’s merchandise prizes will be given for the burn out.

Outdoor Movie
At 9 p.m. the movie, Back to the Future II will be shown outdoors, at Hawk Haven Park, behind the Optimist Club Gym, between Ken’s Pizza and the Iowa Park Swimming Pool and Spray Park.

Concession and Vendors
The Optimist Club will offer popcorn, soda, and candy for sale.
Also, Frosty Paradise will be selling snow cones, and Jose Perez will have his food truck, offering a variety of items, set up near the south side of the Iowa Park Municipal Swimming Pool, during the event.
There will also be craft vendors.
