Annual FishFest this Saturday at Gordon Lake

The Texas Junior Anglers (TJA) program and the City of Iowa Park will be hosting a youth fishing event Saturday at Gordon Lake in Iowa Park.

Fish Fest is sponsored by the City of Iowa Park.

Event hours will be from 9 a.m. to Noon and is free for children 16 and under.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. in the pavilion by the lake.

In addition the Red River Optimist Club and the Iowa Park Optimist Club will provide free hotdogs, bottled water, and soft drinks to those attending the event.

TJA is a non-profit outreach program designed to educate young Texans regarding aquatic stewardship and conservation of natural resources.

Gordon Lake will be generously stocked with over 1200 lbs of adult channel catfish prior to the event.

Prizes and trophies will be awarded to winners in three age categories.

The lake will be opened to licensed adults at the conclusion of the event.

It is recommended that children bring their own equipment; however, TJA will provide loaner rods, reels, bait and tackle to those who need them.
