Speech team wins state title
Iowa Park High School fared very well this week at the Texas UIL State Academic Spring Meet.
The IPHS Speech Team captured the 3A state title, with Athens High School in second.
Individual honors for IPHS students at the state meet include Katelyn Perry, first place, prose interpretation; Kevin Lusignolo, second place, prose interpretation; Jamie Andrews, second place, persuasive speaking; Casey Meadows, second place, poetry interpretation; Brady Tyler, third place, poetry interpretation; and Chad Triplett, third place, spelling and vocabulary.
In overall academic and literary competition among 3A schools, Iowa Park took third place among the state’s elite with 81 total points. Argyle High School was first in total points with 128, and Wimberley High School second with 99. Athens High School was fourth with 76 points, Lubbock Cooper High School fifth with 72 points, and Giddings High School sixth with 69 points.
