Council to address alcohol sales

by Dolores Hamilton
A public hearing to receive comments pertaining to the sale and consumption of alcohol in Iowa Park is on the agenda for Monday night’s special session of the city council.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the council chambers of city hall, 103 E. Cash St.

Preceding the public hearing, the council will receive a report from legal counsel and staff outlining what actions the city may take to regulate the sale and consumption of alcohol within the city limits.

A workshop is scheduled for the council to consider an ordinance providing for the adoption of application fees, license fees, setback distances and operation hours associated with alcohol sales for on-premise and off-premise consumption.

The council will also consider authorizing funds for a joint advertising project with the Iowa Park CISD and the Iowa Park Community Development Corporation.
