School bells to ring in new year Monday

Students in the Iowa Park school district return to classes Monday as the new school year begins. Last year 1,754 students were counted on the first day of school. Iowa Park CISD Superintendent Steve Moody said with new enrollees and transfers, he expects an increase in enrollment this year.
Monday, classes will begin at 8 a.m. on all campuses, and students will be released two hours early, with Kidwell Elementary students getting out at 1:20 p.m., and Bradford Elementary, W.F. George Middle School, and Iowa Park High School students being released at 1:30 p.m.
Parents should make arrangements before the first day of school for bus transportation.
Returning students should sign up for bus transportation when filling out online registration. New students may sign up online at, or at the student’s orientation meeting.
Class lists will be posted on the front windows at Kidwell Elementary today at 3:30 p.m. Students will be able to meet their teacher from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Bradford Elementary students can meet their teachers today from 5:00 - 6:15 p.m. Class lists were posed on the cafeteria windows on Wednesday evening.
W.F. George Middle School will have a campus orientation from 1 to 7 p.m. today.
Incoming freshmen at Iowa Park High School will be introduced to the campus on Friday with the annual Hawk Fish Camp from 8:45 a.m. until noon. All school rules apply during Fish Camp. Students should wear clothes that are dress code appropriate, and no hats are to be worn in the building.
Iowa Park CISD currently does not offer online registration for new students. Parents can enroll their child at the appropriate campus through tomorrow from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 to 3 p.m.
