First day enrollment down slightly

Enrollment was down slightly in the Iowa Park school district as 1,767 students reported to classes on Monday, a decrease of 17 from last year’s first day attendance of 1,784.

Ten additional students showed up on the second day of school, bringing the total up to 1,777. In the past it has not been unusual for students numbers to increase through the Labor Day holiday.

The fourth grade has the largest number of students with 147, and first grade is the smallest class with 106.

First day enrollment for each of the grades include: 12th grade, 128; 11th grade, 129; 10th grade, 124; 9th grade, 145; 8th grade, 137; 7th grade, 133; 6th grade, 134; 5th grade, 123; 4th grade, 146; 3rd grade, 118; 2nd grade, 122; 1st grade, 106; and kindergarten, 138. Pre-kindergarten has 78 students and early childhood, 6.
