School enrollment continues to climb
(8/30/12)

by Dolores Hamilton
Enrollment continues to climb in the Iowa Park school district as 1,784 students reported to classes on Monday morning, an increase of 10 over last year’s first day attendance of 1,774.

“That’s a good number above where we were last year,” said Superintendent Jerry Baird. “I’d like to see it climb to 1800.”

In the past, it has not been unusual for student numbers to increase through the Labor Day holiday.

The third grade has the largest number of students with 151, and kindergarten the smallest with 114.

Enrollment for each of the grades includes: 12th grade, 129; 11th grade, 129; 10th grade, 135; 9th grade, 128; 8th grade, 133; 7th grade, 144; 6th grade 136; 5th grade, 122; 4th grade, 124; 3rd grade, 151; 2nd grade, 125; 1st grade, 128; and kindergarten, 114.
