Electra Hospital District to build clinic in Iowa Park

Construction is expected to begin next month on a new primary care clinic in Iowa Park.

The Electra Hospital District Board of Directors recently approved the satellite clinic project that will be located on the US 287 Access Rd. just east of Victoria St.

The expansion to Iowa Park coincides with Electra Memorial Hospital’s renovation and expansion that was started in January 2012.

Plans for the 7500 square foot facility show space for three providers and staff. The District plans to open the clinic in the early summer of 2014.

“Electra Medical Clinic currently serves a number of families from Iowa Park, and we are excited to have the opportunity to bring their health care closer to home,” said Jan Reed, Electra Hospital CEO. “While it is just a short drive from Iowa Park to Electra, we know that primary care, and especially preventive care, is best served when patients have convenient access and timely treatment.

The City of Iowa Park recently annexed the property where the new clinic will be located. Also, on Monday, the Iowa Park City Council approved infrastructure improvements for the new medical facility, including extension of water and sewer lines and a paved public access road from their parking lot west to North Victoria.
