County judge lifts burn ban

Wichita County Judge Woody Gossom lifted the county burn ban that has been in affect the past several months due to the extreme dry conditions and water shortage.

However, since the recent rains the ban has been lifted at this time.

“We lifted it simply because of the recent rains and some people had burning they needed to get done. We are asking people be very careful if they burn,” said Gossom.

He said water is another concern. Even though the recent rains increased the lake levels some, water restrictions are still in place and fighting a fire can use a large amount of water.

Iowa Park City Council will also discuss lifting the city’s fire restrictions during their regular council meeting Monday evening.
