Fish Fest Saturday at Gordon Lake
The annual Fish Fest, a popular event drawing large numbers of youngsters, is set for Saturday starting at 9 a.m. at Gordon Lake.
No public fishing will be allowed at Gordon Lake from today until after the annual Iowa Park Fish Fest Saturday, with the exception of those participating in the event.
The fish fest will be held from 9 a.m. till noon Saturday.
Approximately 1,200 pounds of adult size channel catfish will be stocked in the lake.
Fishing equipment will be available for use for those who do not have their own. Also, free bait will be available.
The event is sponsored by the Texas Junior Anglers and is free to participants 16 and under.
Prizes consisting of sporting goods and fishing equipment and trophies will be awarded by age categories.
Prizes will be awarded for the first and second longest fish in three age groups: six and under; seven to 11; and 12 to 16-year-old.
There will also be randomly drawn prizes.
Also, souvenir trophies will be available to purchase with proceeds benefitting TJA and helps support the free event.
Iowa Park Community Development Corporation is the title sponsor.
Event sponsors include: The City of Iowa Park, Iowa Park Optimist Club, Red River Optimist Club, CocaCola, Lowe’s Market Place, Sportsmen’s Club of Fort Worth, Flueger, Moritz Chevrolet, Academy, Shakespear, and Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Iowa Park and Red River Optimist Clubs will provide free hot dogs and drinks during the Fish Fest.
