Sealed Air donates land to Iowa Park schools
Sealed Air Corporation (NYSE:SEE) has donated 36 acres of land to the Iowa Park Consolidated Independent School District. The land, located near the company’s Cryovac brand packaging manufacturing facility in Iowa Park, will be used for the construction of a new school.
The long-range plan of the Iowa Park school board in the next phase of school facilities improvement is construction of a new high school or middle school in seven to 10 years, pending voter approval.
“This donation reflects Sealed Air’s SmartLife initiative and commitment to enhancing the communities in which we operate,” said Barry Hardin, local plant manager for the Sealed Air Iowa Park facility. “We are proud to support a project that will help differentiate the community and provide a great place to learn for the children of Iowa Park.”
The donation was announced in a ceremony held yesterday morning on the high school campus with school officials and Kidwell kindergarten students acknowledging the land gift and plans for the future school which will be located west of the high school campus on Bob Dawson Drive.
“This gift is an enormous lift to our school facility improvement efforts,” said Jerry Baird, Superintendent of the Iowa Park Achool District. “Our children and our community will benefit from this very generous offering for many, many years to come. We are blessed to have such a partner as the SealedAir Corporation.”
Sealed Air, through its Cryovac brand technology, has had operations in the area for more than 40 years. The company also has a facility in Wichita Falls.
