James Mitchell “Jim” Bowerman
1933 - 2012
James Mitchell Bowerman, 78, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene with Rev. L.B. Rainbolt officiating.
Jim was born Aug. 6, 1933, in Nocona, to the late Harvey Preston Bowerman and Minnie (Vehon) Bowerman. He graduated Nocona High School in 1952, and then served in the U,S, Army. Later he was a police officer for the Wichita Falls Police Department. In 1955, he and Pansy Faye (Dewhitt) were married. He graduated with a B.S. in Business from the University of North Texas in 1959. They raised their children in Iowa Park. He worked 29 years for G.H. Bear in Wichita Falls and afterwards he independently serviced oil rigs, owned Country Greetings Card and Gift Shop and owned and operated an ostrich ranch. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of Wichita Falls; children, Chris Bowerman and Laura Ramsey, both of Wichita Falls, and Jenny Leggett of Victoria; siblings, Kathryn Jo Roberts of Archer City, Loretta Jean Ritchie of Iowa Park, Jack Lynn Bowerman of Wichita Falls, Sandra Janelle DeMoss of Nocona, and Johnny Preston Bowerman of Midland; and three grandchildren.
