Jerry Thomas Hodges
1928 - 2017

Jerry Thomas Hodges, 88, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 8, in Valley View.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel at Dutton Funeral Home with Pastor Don Yeager, Floral Heights United Methodist Church officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Wichita Falls.

Jerry was born July 10, 1928, to William and Mattie Oliver (Goodlett) Hodges in Valley View. He graduated in 1946 from Valley View High School and attended Oklahoma A&M and Midwestern State University. He was a farmer and rancher all of his life. He was a Boy Scout in Troop 39 and achieved the Life Award, attending camps in New Mexico and Texas. He was an elected officer and member of the Iowa Park A.S.C.S., supporter of the Waco Children’s Home, Valley View Church officer and a member of Floral Heights United Methodist Church since 1984. He was a charter member and fireman of the Valley View Fire Department for many years. He was a calf roper and won First Place in the World Team Roping, which was held in Iowa Park, and was a big supporter of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed guns and bow activities. He married Donna Bowden of Electra, on April 16, 1964, in Archer City. He participated in his daughter’s activities, attending 4-H and school activities.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Donna Hodges of Valley View; daughters, Lisa Anderson of Holliday and Jolene Cavalle of Lantana; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76309.
