Lou Ellen Thorp, 71, of Wichita Falls died Saturday, Jan. 10.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Scott of Lighthouse Church officiating.

Graveside services followed at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.

A daughter of the late Sam and Nellie Mae (Strawhorn) Smith, she was born Jan. 26, 1937, in Jack County.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, George D. Thorp in 2004; a brother; and three sisters.

Survivors include a son Louis Lowe of Windthrost; two daughters, Wanda Bailey of Iowa Park, and Tammy Stelly of Leonville, LA.; three brothers, J.T. Smith, and Kenneth Smith, both of Eunice, LA.; and Leon Smith of Tolbert, LA.; Five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
