Tex Garland Boyd

Tex Garland Boyd, 71, of Wichita Falls passed away Friday, Jan. 13.
A celebration of life, with military honors, will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 120.
Tex was born March 15, 1940, in Wichita Valley Farms, to Floyd Isaac Boyd and Vivian Bell Boyd. He was a star player in football and baseball while growing up in Iowa Park. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling to Mexico and dancing. He served in the United States Navy and spent 15 year at sea on USS Hervert J, Thomas, USS Firedrake, USS Trenton, USS Spiegel Grove, USS Coontz, USS Luce, and the USS Ponce. He retired as a Master Chief in 1982, and also retired from the Insurance Business in 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Carolyn; his brothers, Fuqua, Alton, and Clayton; and his sister, Inona Boyd Patterson.
Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Ripperger of Wichita Falls; his son, Darrin Beek; and four grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to American Legion Post 120, 4601 Lake Shore Drive, Wichita Falls, Tx. 76310.
