Myrtis Nanette Jones Davis

Myrtis Nanette Jones Davis, 64, passed away Monday, Dec. 18.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Beverly Drive United Methodist Church.

She was born Feb. 26, 1943, in Charleston, S.C. to Ottis Murdic and Ruth Hilton Jones. A graduate of Winthrop College, she taught high school Home Economics until she and David Rufus Davis were married July 27, 1968. He served in the United States Air Force, and they traveled many places including Azores, Portugal, where they adopted their daughter, Nancy and son, Duane. While in the Philippines, a second son, Robert, joined the family. After her husband’s retirement they made their home in Iowa Park. Later she attended Bright Divinity School at Texas Christian University. She was ordained by the United Methodist Church and served in churches in Byers, Bells, Sulphur Springs, and Wichita Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and father.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Lynn Goodson of Sulpher Springs; two sons, Duana Raymond of Lawton, OK., and Robert Neal of Dallas; her mother; two brothers; three sisters; and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Beverly Drive United Methodist Church Missionaries or favorite charity.
