Donald M. Russell

Donald Marvin Russell, 77, of Iowa Park, died Saturday, Jan. 28, at United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Christian Church with Rev. Gary House officiating. Burial was at Highland Cemetery under direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park.

Don was born Dec. 31, 1934, in Ardmore, OK., to Guy Marvin and Lorena Bowling Russell. He graduated from Ardmore High School in 1953 and married Joyliece McDonald in 1955. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1958 until his retirement in the early 1990s. After Joy’s death in 1988, he married Patsy Trantham in 1989. He was an avid golfer throughout his life, winning many tournaments. He was an active member of the First Christian Church of Iowa Park and served for many years as an elder. Don was also a blood donor for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joy Russell; second wife, Pat Russell; daughter, Ramona Kay; and brother, Wayne Russell.

Survivors include sons, Jimmy Don and David Eric, both of Wichita Falls; daughters, Sharon Russell of North Richland Hills, Brenda Robertson of Wichita Falls, and Ronda Hogue of Fort Worth; a sister, Patsy Russell of Lindale; and four grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.
