Fern Murlene Ruth Smith, 88, passed away Monday, Feb. 6.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Holliday with Rev. Darryl Sewell and Chaplain Harvey McMurry, officiating. Interment was held in Holliday Cemetery.

Murlene was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Newport, moving to Holliday a short time later, where she resided the majority of her life. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Holliday for 77 years, where she served as a nursery worker for many years. She worked for Stegall Pharmacy for several years and was an active member of Eastern Star for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Smith.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Ray Todd of Wichita Falls, and Tanya Ray Daume of Iowa Park; a son, John Pearson of Holliday; a brother, Don Ruth of Holliday; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
