Francis D. Godwin, age 82, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Wiseman officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Francis was born July 12, 1926 in Bonita, Texas to L.D. and Florence Godwin. He was a member of the Shady Grove Community Church of Nocona, Texas. Francis and Glenda Mapp Helton were married July 30, 1976 in Electra, Texas. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Francis was a retired insurance agent for American National Insurance Company.

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda of Iowa Park; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Ernie Landers of Iowa Park, Texas, Julie and Scott McShan of Iowa Park and Cheri and Gerald Hohfeld of Wichita Falls; son, Ricky Godwin of Austin, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Jeni Helton of Electra, Texas, Larry and Jackie Godwin of Kamay, Texas; granddaughters, Christy Stewart and Ashley McShan of Iowa Park; grandsons, Darrel Landers, Jeffery McShan of Iowa Park, Peyton Helton and Chance Helton of Electra; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Bill, Calvin and Bob all of Washington; sisters, Lena Camp of Mesquite, Texas and Mary Theyer of Washington and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials to Shady Grove Community Church of Nocona, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the funeral home.
