J.J. (Jerry) Riley
1919 - 2009
J.J. Jerry Riley, 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services were held Monday at Dutton funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glen Pearce officiating. Burial was held in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mr. Riley was born Aug. 9, 1919, in Denison, to J.T. and Florence Thompson Riley. He and Maurine Carter were married Aug. 20, 1949, in Holliday. He attended First Baptist Church of Iowa Park. He served during Word War II with Company B. 423rd Infantry, U.S. Army. During this time his company was awarded the Silver Service Medal. He worked in the oil field, owning and operating a tank truck business, for most of his working life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, and his parents.
Survivors include a son, Jerry J. of Van Buren, AR.; a daughter, Mardee Wade of Bullard; two brothers, Francis of Duke, OK., and G.W. “Dub” of Kamay; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
