Betty Marie (Hutchens) Spain
1920 2014

Betty Marie (Hutchens) Spain, 93, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, in Iowa Park.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Faith Baptist Church, with Dr. Ted Spear and Rev. Dennis Neal, officiating.

Graveside services were held at the Goree Cemetery in Goree, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park.

Betty was born May 19, 1920 in Knox County, to Henry Wellington and Auther Irene (Ross) Hutchens. She had been an Iowa Park resident since 1950 and a Charter Member of Faith Baptist Church where she taught numerous Sunday school classes. In World War II, she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” in Fort Worth and California. She was a nurse for many years and a member of the Friendly Door Senior Citizens for 31 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Jay Beavers.

Survivors include her two daughters, Sandra Kaye Groves of Graham, and Linda Darlene Perry of Iowa Park; a son, Danny Mark Spain of Iowa Park; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made to Faith Baptist Church 411 S. Wall St. Iowa Park, TX 76367 or to the Friendly Door Senior Citizens 810 N. 3rd St. Iowa Park, TX 76367.
