Billy Joe “Bill” Baker
1947-2008
Billy Joe “Bill” Baker, 79, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, at his residence.
Services were held Monday at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Miller, pastor of Mankins Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was held in Holliday Cemetery.
Mr. Baker was born Feb. 12, 1928, in Ada, OK., to Harvey and Dovie Stevens Baker. He and Johnnie Seward were married March 19, 1947, in Gainesville. They had been married 56 years, when she passed away Dec. 24, 2003. He worked for North Texas Pipe and Supply Company and Geer Tank Trucks in Jacksboro until his retirement and then he worked for Gageco Trucking Company of Kamay. He also worked on various ranches in Oklahoma and Texas, for several years. He was a member of Mankins Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. For many years he was a song leader at churches he was associated with. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathie Black of Kamay, and Toni Mahler of Holliday; three brothers, H.B., Barney, and James; three sisters, Lowetta Boling, Jaunita Ross, and Anita Ross; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
