Delbert William Sigafus
1927 - 2011

Delbert William Sigafus, 84, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, in Iowa Park.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the chapel of Dutton Funeral Home with Bennie Watson officiating.

Graveside Services with military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Delbert was born April 9, 1927 in Apple River, IL to Jim M. and Maude (French) Sigafus. He married Allene C. Warren on May 4, 1948 at Fort Sill, OK and served in the US Army. He served as Chaplain from 1997-2005 for VFW Post 2147 and worked as a Water Maintenance Supervisor for the Iowa Park Water Department, retiring March 29, 1991. That date was declared as Delbert Sigafus Day in Iowa Park. He was a foreman for the A&M Experimental Farm in Iowa Park.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Delbert W. Sigafus, Jr.; his parents; one brother, Harold Sigafus; and one sister, Betty Heilmyer.

Survivors include his children, Louise Cokendolpher of Wichita Falls; Jimmy Sigafus of Wichita Falls; Jeanette Christopher of College Station; Brenda Bautista of Boyden, Iowa; and Vickie Tarr of Iowa Park; three sisters, Nelda Hilfinker of Monroe, WI.; Lois Cosgrove of Freeport, IL.; and Winnie Luke of Stockton, IL.
