Robert Leon “Sam” Groves, 81, of Petrolia, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Assembly of God Church, Byers, with Jon Curry pastor officiating and B.J. Radke assisting. Burial was held in the Petrolia Cemetery.

Mr. Groves was born Jan. 17, 1931, to T.D. “Daily” and Connie R. (West) Groves. He and Marcia Louise Sewell were married Oct. 29, 1960, in Iowa Park. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, and received a Purple Heart. He worked for Coca Cola and Surgikos as a forklift driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife; son, Dwayne of Petrolia; a daughter, Joyce Bujak of Dean; a brother, Arnold of Petrolia; two sisters, Helen Embry of Cleburne, and Martha Poyner of Petrolia; and four grandchildren.
