Danny ‘D.R.’ Peden

Danny “D.R.” Peden, 73, of Joy passed away Thursday, March 10, in Henrietta.

Funeral services were held Monday at Davis Funeral Home chapel in Henrietta with Rev. Larry Miller, pastor of the Cowboy Church in Henrietta, officiating. Burial was held in Highland Cemetery.

Mr. Peden was born March 29, 1937, in Brown Community in Clay County, to Lonnie and Esther (Veal) Peden. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He and Joni Carter were married Nov. 29, 1991, in Joy. She preceded him in death April 26, 2009. He was retired from Geer Tank Truck where he worked as a dispatcher and was a member of the Bluegrove Masonic Lodge.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include a son, Ricky of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Sheila McCallister of Sun Ray; a step-son, Billy Whitis of Iowa Park; two brothers, Marshall of Archer City and Roger of Joy; a sister, Peggy Garrison of Henrietta; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made to the Kyle Coker Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Legend Bank in Henrietta.
