Dr. Richard C. Carver, 91, long time Iowa Park dentist, unexpectedly passed away on March 16, in Wichita Falls.
Services were held at Dutton Funeral Home Monday.
He was born to Opal Chester Carver and Minnie Marie Murphy on Oct. 8, 1925, in Vigo Park. After graduating from high school in Tulia, he enlisted as a pilot in the Army Air Corp. Following his discharge, he returned to Tulia and married Gloria Ann Kirkpatrick, who preceded him in death. He attended The University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, where he graduated with honors in children’s dentistry. He established a dental practice in Lamesa, prior to moving to Iowa Park where he practiced for 38 years. During his time in Iowa Park, he served the community in many ways: Red Cross District Chairman, Chamber of Commerce President, President of the Wichita Falls Dental Association, President of the Wichita Falls Boy Scouts of America and he was also a long-time member of the First Christian Church. After the death of his wife of 38 years, he married Helen Nipper, to whom he was married for 19 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Reed, Deanne Britt and Janice Goins; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
