Glen Spruiell
1928 - 2018

Glen Spruiell, 90, died Sunday, March 25, in Wichita Falls.

Visitation will be held at Dutton Funeral Home Reception Room from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church with Pastor Landon Winstead presiding. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery.

Born on March 11, 1928, on his grandparent’s ranch in Nolan County outside of Sweetwater. The Spruiell family moved their eight children to Iowa Park in the winter of 1931. He married Joyce Robertson of Iowa Park at First Christian Church on Nov. 19, 1949, and remained a loyal member for 69 years. Glen partnered with brothers Dan and Bill to start Spruiell Drilling Company in 1955. He was instrumental in starting the Little League Baseball teams in the 60’s and helped build the WF George field. He enjoyed coaching on several minor and major league teams. His hobbies included playing softball, deer hunting, raising greyhounds and hunting coyotes, raising and racing Quarter Horses, RVing with family across America, and attending area Bluegrass festivals.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joyce; six brothers and one sister.

Survivors include three children, Becky House of Iowa Park, Steve Spruiell of Dallas, and Stan Spruiell of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made to The First Christian Church in Iowa Park or Friendly Door Senior Citizens’ Center.
