Kimball “Smokey” E. Harvey, died on Sunday, March 19, in Wichita Falls.
A memorial service with full military honors was held Thursday, at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel.
Smokey was born on July 22, 1935 in Norwich, CT., to Edward Moses and Elsie Loretta Wrisley Harvey. He served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service. He continued to serve as the Chief of Civil Engineers at Sheppard Air Force Base for another 30 years. He was a member of Lutheran Faith Church of Wichita Falls and enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, boating, BB-Q and watching Sunday football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. During the 1970’s, he also enjoyed racing cars at the Red River Speedway. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sue Edith Harvey in 2010; his children, Dave and Jerry Varnell; and his sister, Nancy Harvey.
Survivors include his girlfriend, Betty Griffith of Wichita Falls; children, Kimball Robert Harvey of Orange, CA., Pam James of Iowa Park, and Stacey Calabrisi of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
