J.D. Neff
1927 - 2017

J.D. Neff, 89, of Electra, passed away Saturday, March18.

A memorial service was held Saturday at First Baptist Church with Joe Ainsworth of Electra and Ryan Vanderland, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
Cremation service was under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Jerry was born June 22, 1927, in Electra, to the late Cloy Francis “C.F.” Neff and Cora Eva Buckmaster Neff. He was a graduate of Electra High School in 1945 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he returned to Electra and joined in the family business, C.F. Neff and Son Blacksmithing which had been in existence since 1911. He and Bettie Havens were married Nov. 23, 1949, in Elliott. She preceded him in death on February 27, 1998. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Electra and had served as a Deacon for over fifty years. He had been a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years and taught the Adult II class for over twenty five years. He was a founding member of the Electra Riding Club and had served as president.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include a son, Mark N. Neff of Electra; a daughter, Marsha Strange of Iowa Park; a brother, Danny Neff, Sr. of Wichita Falls; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church, 406 W. Garrison Electra, Texas 76360.
