Billy F. Garvin
1930 - 2013

Billy F. Garvin, 83, passed away Sunday, March 31, in Wichita Falls.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, in the chapel of Dutton Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Neal officiating.

A son of the late W.W. and Alma (Pear) Garvin, he was born March 16, 1930. He went to work at age 14 with his father for the Katy Railroad. He built his own home and owned a tile & cabinet shop, managed and cooked at a restaurant, was a police officer for 8 years, worked for Burgess Mfg., helped build the PPG plant, raised cows and had his own butcher shop. He was also a welder and carpenter. He liked painting art and building woodcrafts. He could play the mandolin and piano by ear, self-taught, and recorded a record when he was about 19.

He was preceded in death by his son, Russell Garvin; daughter, Tina Mink;
wife, Joann Garvin; and sisters, Angie Shrum and Wanda Riley. 

Survivors include two daughters Linda Schroeder of Richardson, and Donna Balch of Iowa Park; a brother Danny Garvin of Pampa; sisters Wadene Trotter of Wichita Falls, Peggy Plowman of Lewisville, and Patsy Mahoney of Kansas; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
