Gene Williams
1925 – 2009

Walter Eugene “Gene” Williams, 83, of Wichita Falls died Saturday, April 4, in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with Gil Peters officiating. Burial followed in Rosemont Cemetery.

Mr. Williams was born May 11, 1925, in Ardmore, OK., to Walter Harold and Myrtle Elizabeth Williams. He attended school in Chandler, OK. and during World War II he spent four years in the Navy. He received an honorable discharge, and accepted a job with El Paso Natural Gas Co. After 30 years of employeement with that company, he took early retirement to pursue a career in locksmithing. He opened A Wee Lock and Key Shop in Wichita Falls, April 1, 1980, which he operated for 25 years until his retirement in 2004. He and Lora Roddy were married Aug. 15, 1980. He was a member of the Holliday Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed flying and owned his own plane.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ed; and two sisters, Marianne Williams and Beth Mahler.

Survivors include his wife of Wichita Falls; a son, Gene, Jr., of Phoenix, AZ.; a daughter, Louise Webster of Phoenix, AZ.; a step-daughter, Pamela Moss of Iowa Park; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to Holliday Church of Christ, Holliday, TX. or Wichita County Humane Society.
