Preston Burton Bayne

Preston Burton Bayne, 86, of Wichita Falls, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Graham, Texas.

Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park with Rev. Dennis Neal, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

A son of the late Morgan Spencer and Derotha (Burton) Bayne, Preston was born on October 4, 1928 in Paducah, Texas. On November 26, 1948, he married Bennie Faye Slape. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Paducah. Preston was a jack of all traits, and could build and fix anything he got his hands on. While living in Paducah, he owned and operated Paducah Hardware Store, and Conoco Gas Station. The family later moved to Vernon, where he worked for Osbornes Distributing. After settling in Wichita Falls, Preston worked for Norris Bros. Lumber, and later retired after many years from Sutherland’s.

Along with his parents, Preston was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Bennie Faye Bayne, on February 28, 2015; his granddaughter, Shannon Rose; two brothers, Mark and Narvel Bayne; and his sister, Barbara Bayne Hinderliter.

He is survived by his daughters, Vonda Davis and husband Rodney of Iowa Park, and Tonda Lang and husband Brad of Graham; his sister, Evelyn Slaughter of Utah; two grandchildren, Braden Lang of Wichita Falls, and Shane Simpkins and wife Martha of Childress; three great-grandchildren, Chancey Rose of Iowa Park, Helene Simpkins, and Kaydence Simpkins both of Childress; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
