David William Gass
1935 - 2007
David William Gass, 71, died Monday, April 9, in Iowa Park.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Dutton Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Neal, Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Brewer, Maine.
Mr. Gass was born June 30, 1935, in Brewer, ME., to Sam and Mildred (Sawetelle) Gass. He and Doris Hayden were married May 7, 1958, in Brewer, ME. She preceded him in death. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an All-American Football player in 1952. In addition to enjoying his family, he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and was a dog lover. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a clerk in 1990. He had been a resident of Iowa Park 15 years, moving from West Point, NY.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bobby; and two sisters, Edith Campbell, and Avis McKechnie.
Survivors include, two sons, David of Iowa Park, and Danny of Austin; a brother, John of Jacksonville, Fl.; a sister, Sherry Skees of Burlington, N.D.; and two grandchildren.
