Valerie Alice Foster Heugel

Valerie Alice Foster Heugel left here, surrounded by her family, to meet her Savior on April 10, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wichita Falls with Pastor Dale Snyder officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Highland Cemetery Pavilion in Iowa Park, Texas under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the funeral home.

Valerie was born to the late George and Mabel Foster on May 5, 1935 in Southwark, London. Valerie met Charlie in England and they were married in Trinity Church Square, Southwark, London, England on June 23, 1956. Valerie became a citizen of the United States in 1965, but never lost her wonderful English accent nor her love of England (God save the Queen!).

Valerie worked for Radiology Associates for 28 years, retiring in 2001 to become a fulltime Grandma. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wichita Falls for the past 40 years. Valerie taught Sunday School for many years and was a volunteer for many other organizations. She was currently involved with the ORLC Comfort Dog program.

Valerie’s greatest love was her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Valerie also enjoyed many crafts including; crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, and quilting. She was also passionate for God’s creatures, especially her cats.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles; daughter, Linda and husband, Bruce Romoser; daughter, Julie and husband, Darrel Williams; daughter, Gail and husband Eddy Cannedy. She is also survived by her sister, Marjorie and husband, John Collins of Kent, England; a brother-in-law, Glen Heugel of Leavenworth, Kansas; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or ORLC Comfort Dog program.

As Valerie always said, “Bloom where you are planted.” www.duttonfuneralhome.com
