Lora Abston Roddy Williams
1930 - 2014

Lora Abston Roddy Williams, 83, of Wichita Falls, died Sunday, May 11, in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with Gil Peters officiating. Burial followed at Rosemont Cemetery.

Lora was born Oct. 25, 1930, in Thalia, to Tom N. and Sue T. (Thompson) Abston.

A graduate of Crowell High School and Bud Hall’s School of Beauty, she was a hairdresser for over 35 years, and won numerous awards including the Parade of States Contest. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

She married Walter E. (Gene) Williams Aug. 15, 1980, and they enjoyed 28 happy years together. After her retirement she assisted him in his locksmith business until his retirement in 2004. Together they enjoyed square-dancing, traveling to see the kids in Arizona, and spending time with their grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Walter E. (Gene) Williams; parents, Tom and Sue Abston; sisters, Audra Craig, Wilma Abston, and Iris Wilson; and brother Nelson Abston.

Survivors include daughter, Pamela Moss, of Iowa Park; a son, Gene Williams, Jr. of Wittmann, AZ; a sister, Laverne Shaffer, of Los Gatos, CA.; a brother, Alton Abston of Wichita Falls; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
