Wanda E. ‘Jeanne’ James

Wanda E. ‘Jeanne” James was received into the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ at 11:58 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, after a 15 year battle with pre-leukemia
.
Born July 26, 1926, in Hefner, Knox County, Texas, to Paul and Ruby Harris Brogden, Jeanne resided in Hefner-Munday area until 1950. A 1944 Valedictorian graduate of Goree High School, Jeanne worked as a teller at a bank in Munday, Texas, before moving to Iowa Park in 1950 where she has resided her remaining years. She attended Draughn’s Business College, and then worked several years at the State National Bank of Iowa Park, where she met and married the love of her life, Billy D. James.

She worked for several years for the Wichita County Tax Office issuing vehicle license plates. The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on May 5th.

She was active in PTA and as room mother for all three children, and has remained active in loving and caring for four generations of children. Jeanne and husband, Billy, participated in Iowa Park JC’s/Jaycettes as well as enjoying multiple trips all over the Texas/Oklahoma area and Cancun, Mexico, participating in chili cook-offs representing the Iowa Park Muleskinners.

Mrs. James was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Joyce Brogden Phillips.

She is survived by her husband, son Billy, Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Irving, Texas and daughters, Jo Ellen Sampley of Kamay, Texas and Karen Watson and husband, Danny of Haslet, Texas, a sister, Reba Mason of Midlothian, Texas, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements are under direction of Dutton Funeral Home, Iowa Park. Rev. Gary House will officiate a memorial service at First Christian Church of Iowa Park at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2012.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel.
