Dorothy Arnell (Kuykendall) Jeter,89, a longtime resident of Iowa Park, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012, in Iowa Park.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Chapel of Dutton Funeral Home with Rev. Clifton McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born August 2, 1922 in Odell, to Elmer Ernest Kuykendall and Ethel May (Pettey) Kuykendall. She graduated high school in San Antonio and received a degree in sociology from the University of Maryland. She was a counselor in a chaplain’s office for 17 years and had also worked as a clerk in a dress shop. She married Alvin E. Jeter on May 21, 1977, in Iowa Park. He preceded her in death April 21, 2011. She was a member of Word of Grace Church, Iowa Park.

Survivors include a son, Ernest S. Goff of Mississippi; two stepdaughters, Carole Neussen of Texas and Yvette Treat of California; a stepson, Darwin Jeter, of California; a brother, Alton E. Kuykendall of Stockdale; a sister, Frances Gail Thomas of Texas; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
