Edward Samuel Pruitt
1938-2008
Edward Samuel Pruitt, 70, passed away Sunday, May 18, at Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Graveside services were held Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery with Bill Cleveland of Alvord Baptist Church officiating.
Mr. Pruitt was born March 20, 1938 in Ringgold and was a resident of Bowie 26 years. He was a licensed pilot, who enjoyed flying, traveling, and building. During his life he founded Charter Industries in Henrietta, and owned and operated four other mobile home plants. Charter later merged with Lancer Homes where he served as president. He has owned and operated Pruitt Oil and Gas for the past 30 years. He was a member of Ringgold Baptist Church, as well as a member of the North Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Fleda Pruitt; and a brother, Charlie.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; five sons, Mark Pruitt of Houston, Brian Pruitt of Iowa Park,Russell Cowdrey of Coppell, Charles Pruitt of McAllen, and Cary Cowdrey of Decatur; two sisters, Rene Reed of Munday, and Frances Strickland of Selma; and 15 grandchildren.
