1929 - 2009

Milburn “Gene” Jackson, formerly of Lewisville, passed away May 20, in Worthington, Ohio after a lengthy illness.

Services were held Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Lewisville.

Interment followed at Highland Cemetery.

Gene was born in 1929, in Coleman and raised in Iowa Park. After he served in the US Army in Korea as an MP, he returned to Texas and graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in business. He was a Human Resource Manager with Diamond Shamrock and Occidental Petroleum. His career took him to Alabama, Delaware, Ohio, New York and back to Texas, where he retired in 1992. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lewisville and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and projects around the house.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois Jackson; and a sister, LaCreta Samuelson.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Wanda Jackson; a son, Terry of Newark, DE.; three daughters, Janet Merkel of Woodstock, GA., Karen Lisa of Hockessin, DE, and Amy Brown of Powell, OH.; his twin brother, Wilburn Dean of Pasadena; and eight grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to fund Alzheimer’s research.
