Mary Miles (Hines) Mixon, 84, passed away Saturday, May 28, in Nacogdoches.
Memorial Services were held Wednesday, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Park with Dr. Jon Eckstein officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mixon was born Oct. 11, 1926 in Wichita Falls, to Miles Lewis and Cleo Margaret (George) Hines. She and John Andrew Mixon were married May 9, 1944 in Walters, OK. She lived all her life in Iowa Park, until moving to Nacogdoches, in 2001 after the death of Mr. Mixon. She was a graduate of W.F. George High School in Iowa Park and attended North Texas State College at Denton, two years. She was a former kindergarten and first grade teacher prior to working for Region 9 Education Service Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park where she was organist for 31 years and she also taught piano for several years. She attended First United Methodist Church of Nacogdoches.
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Jerry of Nacogdoches; one daughter, Judy Ann Dye of Houston; a brother, Travis Hines of Trinity; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park, First United Methodist Church of Nacogdoches, or Life Care Hospice of Nacogdoches.
