Merle Ray Bowen Sr.
1937 - 2013

Merle Ray Bowen, Sr., 76, passed away Saturday, June 1.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Legacy Church of God in Wichita Falls.

Interment followed in the Garden of Inspiration at Crestview Memorial Park.

Merle was born March 6, 1937, in Garber, OK., to George E. and Ruby (Ray) Bowen. He was a welder by trade and worked for Gulf, Texaco, Shell and other oil companies. Merle owned B&B Bit and Tool in Wichita Falls. He was raised in Archer City from the age of four, moved to California in 1964, and then to Fort Stockton in 1977. He was a member of Legacy Church of God. He enjoyed fishing, working and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Beulah Mae Hoffman; a daughter, Ladonna Bowen; and a son, Marty Ray Bowen.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Nell of Wichita Falls; two sons, Ricky Lee Bowen of Wichita Falls and Merle Ray Bowen, Jr. of Iowa Park; a daughter, Tonya Merlice Wells of Tn.; two sisters, Betty Joe McKee of Bowie, and Barbara Jean Herron of Lake Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
