Keith Eldon James
Keith Eldon James, 80, died peacefully at Settlers Ridge Care Center, Celina, Texas, on Sunday, June 3, 2007. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Highland Cemetery Pavilion, Iowa Park, Texas, with Rev. Jack Riley officiating. Services are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park.

Mr. James was born on March 5, 1927 in Amarillo, Texas, where he graduated from high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, serving during World War II as a navy corpsman. After graduation from the University of Texas, he established his reputation as an expert in applying chemistry to resolve problems in oil and gas exploration. After a distinguished career that took him all over the world, Keith retired to his home near Granbury, Texas. He became a Master Gardener, an active builder for Habitat for Humanity, and a founding member of the Hood County Genealogy Society. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Acton.

Mr. James is survived by his five children, Nancy and her husband, Richard Street; Lisa and her husband, Dennis Hill; Eric James and his wife, Teri; Joel James and his wife, Kathy; and Molly and her husband, David Waldrip. He is also survived by his brother, Justice Tom James of Celina and his wife, Bobbie; eighteen grandchildren; nieces: Sue Lloyd, Candy Rudy, Cynthia Bohannon, and Cheryl LaDue, and a host of friends.

Because some of his family is traveling in China, a memorial service will be held at a later time.

Memorials are suggested to the Prayer Garden, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 3600 Fall Creek, Granbury TX 76049, or the charity of your choice.
